Songlines of the Body - Bilingual Solstice Offering - Sunday 22nd June 7pm (Online)

€15.00

Language doesn’t just live in the head - it lives in the rivers and mountainous terrains of bodies - the permeable membranes of cells and tissues inherited from generations of those who spoke and understood the world through the particular sounds & tones of that given place, organised into an instrument where breath, vocal cords, muscle & bone shape themselves into those sounds.

It lives in the attunement to subtle shifts in tone, inflections and dynamics of speech - it lives in the willingness to sit in the discomfort of not understanding with the mind, and open to new, somatic, felt-sense ways of communicating with the world around us.

It lives - maireann sé - in the pre-verbal movement patterns of mind and body - before a surge of energy has crystallised itself into any recognisable pattern of thought or action (what the tantrikas would call ‘Pashyanti’).

It also lives in the patterns of awareness that ARE recognisable, even if barely - the words and phrases which have caught on and managed to slip through the vacuum of time, generations of suppression, and a power-hungry world dominated by English-speakers, where any minority language was by it’s very existence, a liability to the continued survival of it’s people. Especially one rooted in the wisdom of the land.

Go háirithe ceann mar sin (especially one like that). Ach tá rudaí ag athrú - but things are changing. As we wake up to the songlines that live in our bodies - the stories and cellular memories held in the tissues and fascial lines, and we begin to consciously change our relationship to them, space is created.

Space for new stories and relationships with language, land and body to be re-woven into the tapestry of our embodied, day-to-day experience. Join me online for Songlines of the Body - a bilingual Solstice offering, weaving somatic yoga with embodied philosophy, voice work & sacred sound.
