Tending to the bones of our relationship with an Ghaeilge, this retreat/language immersion will be an opportunity to both practice & refresh your Irish, but also dive deep into somatic, yoga & ritual practice as a way to create the conditions within which language can become a living tool for connection to self, land and Body.

~
Ag cothú na cnámha d’ár gcaidreamh leis an nGaeilge, beidh an tumadh teangan/díseart seo mar deis do chuid Gaeilge a chleachtadh is a hathbheoigh, ach freisin deis chun tumadh go domhain isteach go cleachtaí sómatach, íoga agus deasghnáth mar bhealach na coinníollacha a chruthú gur féidir le teanga a bheith mar uirlis bheo ceangal a chruthú leis an duine féin, le talamh agus corp laistigh de.

Come home to the landscape of your body ~ Tar abhaile go tírdhreach do choirp

Come home - tar abhaile - to an Ghaeilge, through the landscapes of body, mind, breath & voice.

The grammar (structure) of the weekend will centre around firstly un-shaming and grieving the loss/lack of language, & then co-creating a safe space in which we can practice speaking/learning together in an environment also geared towards self-inquiry and spiritual practice.

From a practice perspective, the theme of the sessions will be ‘coming home’ - ‘ag teacht abhaile’, with a focus on dropping into presence in body, breath & voice, and guiding awareness back home to all the places it has emigrated from.

There will also be daily Irish ‘classes’ which will be informal and experience-based in style, as well as evening music, song, story & inner ‘landscaping’ sessions.

Dátheangach; ‘Two-tongued’/Bilingual

This retreat will be facilitated (mostly) bilingually, in order to make it accessible to multiple levels of Irish. It will be best suited to those who have a basic level of Irish already and who wish to be immersed in a nourishing environment for a weekend in order to practice & build on that through yoga practice & somatic learning.

If you are newer to the language, there will be 2 pre-retreat online sessions (via Zoom) offered to give you some basic phrases and prepare the ground for our time together.

The one rule and expectation for the weekend that we will all agree to is:
To speak as much Irish as possible.

Approaching this like an adult’s Gaeltacht immersion, where you speak however much or little Irish you have both during and between sessions, in the downtime and mealtimes, during even the most casual interactions, is the way to get the most out of the experience.

~

Cuirfear an díseart seo ar fáil go dátheangach (go príomhá), chun é a dhéanamh oiriúnach d’fhoghlaimeoirí de roinnt leibhéil Gaeilge. Beidh sé dírithe orthu siúd a bhfuil leibhéal Gaeilge bunúsach acu cheana féin, agus atá ag iarraidh a bheith tumtha isteach i dtimpeallacht ar feadh deireadh seachtaine chun cleachtadh ar sin agus í a fhorbairt trí chleachtaí íoga agus sómatach.

Má tá tú níos úire don teanga, beidh 2 sheisiúin réamh-dísirte ar. líne (ar Zoom) curtha ar fáil chun roinnt frásaí bunúsacha a thabhairt duit agus an talamh a ullmhú d’ár gcuid ama le chéile.

Venue ~ Ionad

Mucklagh Lodge

Mucklagh Lodge is a magical venue surrounded by acres of thick woodland and hidden away in the depths of the Wicklow mountains. It is entirely cut off from internet access so the weekend will be an opportunity to go offline and completely immerse in with the group.

Is ionad fíor-dhraíochtúil é Mucklagh Lodge, sáinnithe i lár acraí de choillearnach tiubh agus i bhfolach go domhain i sléibhte Cill Mhantáin. Tá sé go hiomlán scoite ón idirlíon so beidh an deireadh seachtaine mar deis dul as líne agus tumadh go hiomlán isteach leis an ngrúpa.

Total cost for 3 nights/4 days (including all meals, sessions and materials) is €650.

Non-refundable deposit of €150 to secure your spot.
